Conditionals: Default featured image if none is set?

Hi,

I’d like to set up a condition that says if a featured image is not set, then a default image is used instead. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Jen

Hi Jen,

Thank you for reaching out to us. This might not be possible at the moment, this is something we can add to our list of feature requests. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive.

Thanks!

Hi @petitshoo,

I apologize for the previous reply but this is actually possible by using Element Conditions. There’s a condition called “Featured Image” and you can check for “Is set” and “Not is set”. So if you add two Image elements with opposite conditions, one can be the fallback and one the

Here are some steps to quickly try this out:

  • Drag in a Posts Minimal element. It is already setup in a way that the featured image hides when it isn’t set. * Next duplicate the Featured Image.
  • Change the image source on the duplicate to your desired fallback.
  • Finally, under Customize > Element Conditions click the “is set” button to reverse the condition

Hopefully this helps give you an idea of how the process works. The end result should be two separate elements in the builder, but only one of them will ever be displayed - the fallback, or the actual featured image.
