Component save a section template

hello,

how can i save the elements from a component as a section template?
at the moment this is not possible, it always saves as a component only.

as a scenario: sometimes i may find that i do not need a component. then i could use the section template to put in the page manually.

bug: when exporting a component and import it to another site the component is empty.
to export/import section templates works great.

feature request 1: also it would be great to have a edit link in the page edit (like it was in the past and as header/footer sections)

feature request 2: most of the time in my case i do not want to import the media as well – so an option would be great in the import or export (per say the media import is a great feature)

Hello @oblaum,

Thanks for writing in!

You should be able to save a Component as a Section template.

Be advised that even if you used the Section template into your page, when there are updates to the Component, those changes will not be reflected into the page that used the Section template.

In the latest release, when viewing the page, there should be an edit link in the admin bar.

thanks! ah, i see. i was misleading in the templates when doing so with the “component” under the template name. than its great.

in version 5 with blocks it was easy to edit a block in the page with a edit link. comonents are better at all. but i miss this tiny feature.

i work a lot with components and an edit button for a component in the page would speed the workflow.
