Comet Cache / Cornerstone

There’s an ongoing issue with Cornerstone and the Comet Cache caching plugin. The exact issue has been described before here: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/compatibility-between-cornerstone-and-comet-cache/14013

TLDR: When Comet Cache is enabled, Cornerstone is not loading. It affects both X and Pro. URI exclusions as proposed in the aforementioned thread do not resolve this issue. Console Error log:

For reference, these issues have been created on Comet Cache’s Github:

I stuck with Comet Cache for around 6 months as it seems a very good caching app. I also would very much like Themeco to make X be compatible with it.

Would you mind sharing WordPress login and FTP credentials? You can add these in a secure note. I can take a closer look at what’s going on.

I’ve added Login credentials to the secure note. Note that administrative rights will be revoked automatically after 48 hours. Please let me know if you need more time. Thank you for your help!

Thank you! Would it be possible to get FTP credentials as well? It looks like Comet Cache is attempting to cache all requests involving the builder loading. There is code in Cornerstone to tell caching plugins not to do this, but Comet Cache isn’t honoring it. However, there’s probably a variation I can setup to make it work. There is some code I’ll need to attempt adding which isn’t safe to do without FTP.

If I’m able to get it fixed on your site, I could look at making whatever adjustment we discover part of an official Cornerstone update so we can prevent this from happening in the future.

Here you go.

Great I will look forward to this issue being solved so that I can reinstall comet cache. Please keep this thread updated as to when the issue is solved.

I was able to login, but the account only had access to an empty folder. Can you update the permissions so I can access what’s in wp-content? Thanks!

-.- sorry about that. Please see the note for updated login credentials.

Thanks @stevengriffith,

I’ve spent some time looking into this and regretfully haven’t been able to uncover the source of the problem so far. Two things I need some assistance with:

  1. Is this an admin account? I’m unable to access the dashboard.
  2. I was able to connect over FTP earlier, but now when I try access a file I get this error: “Connection timed out or server hung up. The server you are connecting to may be configured to limit the number of connections you are allowed to make.”

Admin access was initially limited to 48 hours. I’ve extended it now so you should be able to access the dashboard.

Mmh… it’s a regular ftp admin account with unlimited quota set up in cPanel. A wp security plugin may limit the number of connections server-side but that’s just a guess. You can try to temporarily disable it from the dashboard and see if that changes anything. I’m not having any issues connecting over ftp though.

I’m sorry about the delay here. I downloaded the entire Comet Cache plugin from your server to have a copy locally so that could have exceeded the connection limit. As this ticket is outside the scope of support (we can’t support 3rd party plugins) it will take a bit longer to work through. Would you mind re-enabling the access? 48 hours from now should be enough as we’re not going to roll into a weekend. Thank you!
