Column shortcodes - html won't open links in new tab

Hi, I’m using the following HTML inside my column shortcodes:

"right"><a href="https://tryveg.com"><img src="http://vegweektest.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/footer-try-veg-logo.png" target="blank" alt="tryveg logo" width="155" height="34" class="alignright size-full wp-image-5374" /></a></div> [/column] 

[column type="1/2" last="true"] <div align=
"left"><a href="http://cok.net"><img src="http://vegweektest.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/footer-cok-logo.png" target="blank" alt="cok logo" width="148" height="34" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-5375" /></a></div> [/column]

I’ve tried both target="_blank" and target=“blank” but no luck in getting the links to the images to open in a new tab. What am I missing here?

You need to add it on href and not in img

eg.
