Column Backgrounds with different colour rollovers

I have a section split in to 3 columns, each column has a background image. Is it possible to give each column a different colour rollover effect?

Yes this is possible through some custom CSS. What I can suggest you to do is to add a class to every section and target each section using the class that you have assigned to it.

For example, you assign the class red-hover to the first section, then the CSS should be something like this:

.red-hover:hover .x-bg-layer-upper-color {
    background-color: red !important;
}
