Clear Cache and Fonts Went Weird

Hello,

Any idea why clearing the cache set the website fonts to some alternate default?
I looked in my CSS and JS and all the custom modifications I coded are still in there.
All the headings are now this outline font that is horrendous.
Any clues on how I get the normal solid headings back?

All Fonts should be Helvetica Neue (System) but no longer appear to be that font.
I also updated WordPress to 5.2.2, I don’t know if that had anything to do with it.

Hi Jesse,

Thanks writing in! I have checked your site and the global font is set to use Lato. Please go to your X > Theme Options > Typography > Body and Content and make sure that the correct font settings were used. The settings should NOT have been affected with the update or clearing with the caches.

Please let us know how it goes.

I changed it all to Lato because Helvetica looked weird. I think some google font update changed how Helvetica Neue (System) appears. It’s not just on my website that i’ve noticed the weird font issue. I even noticed it on some blogs i was reading unaffiliated with our website.

Hello Jesse,

If you use the Helvetica Neue (System), the font may look weird if you do not have the font in your system. This system fonts will rely on the existing fonts in your local computer. For example, you may have the Helvetica Neue in your system and still it displays bad on my end because I do not have that font. And if that font does not exist in the system, it will just used the system’s font default as alternative. It is best that you select a Google font or a system font that is most common.

By the way, please check this Google font:

Hope this helps.

I just went with Lato which appears to work on most computers including my own.

Glad to hear that.
