Classic Video Player | Self Hosted Videos | White Space - Take 2

hi guys

I previously posted regarding this issue , is there still issues relating to this as I cannot get my videos to show if i self host,( these videos have to be self hosted due to copy write arrangements,) If so is there a work around that would display these videos as they should with an image cover, i tried using the new video template selecting player but get the same result

Any help would be great as I need to get these videos back on site via self hosting and not by uploading them to sharing sites like youtube or viveo etc

Heres the link to my previous topic that has links : https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/classic-video-player-self-hosted-videos-white-space/15837/5

Cheers

Hello Wez,

Thanks for writing in!

Can you please confirm that you have updated to the latest versions?
Our latest versions are:

  • X theme 7.1.2
  • Cornerstone 4.1.2
  • WordPress 5.3.2

This latest release contains fixes for several issues so be sure to check out the changelog (http://theme.co/changelog/).

After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

And by the way, please do not add spaces in your video filenames. Instead of having BBC interview of Designer Josh - HOI.mp4, please renamed it into this:
BBC_interview_of_Designer_Josh-HOI.mp4

Or simply use dashes for each space character.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi Sorry for the delay in replying had a few busy days and thanks for getting back to me.

I can confirm that i’m using all the above versions you have mentioned, i’ve cleared the cache on the website and the various browsers i have and still none are showing.

Re names: normally it doesn’t matter if there is spaces are most browsers add the %20 where required however I changed them all just to make sure that wasn’t causing the issue and unfortunately there is still no videos being displayed

I tried adding one using the new video template and that still does not show

I cannot find any errors that show me why they are still not showing on site ,

Any other suggestions would be great, I have 9 browsers on my PC and each one doesn’t display any self hosted videos posted on site

Wez

Hi Wez,

I tried a few of your videos in my dev site and it all plays fine.

This seems to be more of a server-side issue than a theme issue. You can see in the screenshot below that your mp4 video is partially downloaded and canceled.

Can you try this sample video http://techslides.com/demos/sample-videos/small.mp4 if it works? Don’t download the video just paste the URL directly on a video element.

Thanks,

hi @friech

I tried adding the video you linked and that also doesn’t show on the site , i added a red hue background so you can see were it would be.

In most browsers i tested if I press ctrl + F5 the video shows up for a split second then vanishes so i’m assuming that’s the partial download you mentioned.

Any idea what on the server would cause this to happen so we have an idea how to fix it, as you mentioned above you believed it was server related

Its weird as you can view the video directly - https://www.houseofikons.com/hoi-videos/Balitang_Global.mp4

but not if its linked threw the website
