Classic font and headline changes

Hello! We are considering changing our font. How can I edit the classic text and classic headline elements? Someone else set those up. Do you have a YouTube video(s) that explains this more?

Hello @RevealHM,

Thanks for writing to us.

In order to add the font on the Classic text and Classic headline element you need to add the custom CSS code to the Style. Please have a look at the given screenshot below.

font-family: 'Playfair Display';

I would suggest you please use the V2 element which is the Text/Headline element where you get an option to set the font through the element settings.

Hope it helps
Thanks

I need to change the font to Alta for the questions.

I successfully changed the answer font to Josefin Sans. I pasted the code in the style section of the css.

How can I adjust the classic settings so that moving forward if I want to use a classic element, I can use Josefin Sans for body copy and Alta (imported font) for Headings? Is it in theme options? We also have set specific height and spacing for those fonts and I don’t see an option to adjust that here in the theme options.

Hey Ashley,

It will require custom CSS to have all classic elements have the same font headings. Just want to let you know that providing custom coding is outside the scope of our theme support. One thing to note, we are phasing out the support of Classic Elements, so it would be advisable to change all your classic elements with v2 elements. To know more about the status updates, please check this out.

Hope that helps.

Oh okay. So we need to replace all of the classic text elements with just the text element?

Hey Ashley,

Yes, you can change the classic text element to v2 text element. The Classic elements will still work but for future development, it is advisable to use the V2 elements.

Hope that helps.

We have just been replacing with the “text” element. Is that the V2 element you are referring to?

Also, one thing that was nice about classic text is that when I changed the font, it changed it across the whole website. Now, using the text element, will we always have to change each text box individually on every single page whenever we want to make a font change?

Also I just noticed that several of our elements are in classic columns, classic rows, and classic sections. Should I replace all of these classic elements as well?

Hello Ashley,

If you use the Text element, you still have the option to use “inherit” for the Font Family and Font Weight.

What this does, is that you allow the Global font settings to be used by the Text element. So, every time you change the font family in Globals > Options > Typography > Body and Content, those Text element and any other element using “Inherit” will change.

If you have several pages using Classic elements, you can just let them be for now. Over time, it would be advisable to recreate each of those pages so that in the future, it would be easier to edit them and prevent any issues.

Best Regards.
