Classic Audio Player Not Working

I run a music production school, so I use the classic audio player in a lot of places throughout my site, but here is one example:

If you scroll down to ‘Want to Hear the Results?’ there should be 6 audio players.

This has been working well for years and recently stopped working after no specific changes were made on my end. Any idea what could be causing this issue?

And just FYI the classic audio player is not working site wide.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Hyperbits,

Thanks for reaching out.

The theme uses Wordpress’ MediaElementJS for video and audio player, I checked the URL and MEJS library is failing. Once it failed, the rest will not work as well. The error is originating from the javascript code added along with the Vimeo video,

Please try removing the video element and test if your audio player is going to work, if it is then you’ll have to remove the javascript added along with your Vimeo embed code.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response.

Removing the video player did not fix the audio player.

But even if it did, removing the Vimeo embed isn’t really an option because I use Vimeo embeds through out the site on 50+ pages, in combination with the X audio player.

This was working perfectly fine until just now, is there something else that could be causing this? I didn’t make any site changes or anything like that…

Hi @Hyperbits,

In that case, please provide your admin login credentials in the secure note so we can directly check it.

Thanks!

Hello @Hyperbits,

I have logged in and temporarily deactivated Breeze and CloudFlare plugin from your site. The cached version seems still the one being loaded. Can you please log in to your CloudFlare account and purge your site cache? This seems just a caching issue.

Best Regards.

I purged the site cache logged in under Cloudflare and have not seen any changes to the audio player.

Why would this be a caching issue if I never had the audio players removed to begin with?

Hi @Hyperbits,

It could be there an update (WP, Theme, Plugin, or something) on the site recently, and the cache was not regenerated and still has the old resources.

I have checked your page on my dev site and the classic audio player elements are still working fine. There could be a plugin conflict happening on your site, please do a Testing for Plugin Conflict.

A possible thing that could happen was your last Wordpress update did not go well and the Wordpress native media player has been affected. Try Reinstalling WordPress from the Dashboard.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!
