Change Global Block ID

Hi,

I have created a new version for a Global Block. The “old” one is used on all pages. Is there a way to change the ID of the new Global block so I don’t have to change every page?

Hello @quinex,

Thanks for asking.

If you have created a new Global block then as of now you will have to replace the global block manually from those pages.

Thanks for understanding.

Was afraid you’d say that

No problem, but might be a nice “to do” for future releases if we could duplicate an active global block > make changes > create a draft page to consult with client > once approved, change the global block ID so it is live immediately in all the current positions.

Cheers Carlo

Hi There,

We certainly appreciate the feedback! This is something we can add to our list of feature requests. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive.

Thanks!

Hi @quinex,

A good solution here would be to do something like this:

  1. Save the contents of the new Global Block as a template
  2. Open the old Global Block and save it’s contents as a template (call it a “backup”)
  3. Delete all the sections in the old Global Block
  4. Insert the template of the new design while still editing the old Global Block.

This would help you swap out the design in a single save action without needing to go update all the IDs.
