Chaging the favicon

Hi,
How can I add a favicon? I went into Appearance -> Customize -> Site Icons
I generated a favicon file, and designated the path as its permalink after uploading the file to my media library. But no luck.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for writing in! Please update your Pro theme to the latest version. You can check the latest version numbers from here. With the new update, we have removed it from the the Pro > Theme Options panel.

With the new update, you should be able to locate it under Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.

i have the same problem right now. you describe the website-icon not the favicon. there used to be 3 icons: favicon, tile and site icon i think. 2 bigger sizes for ios and android. where are they hiding now? thanks, kai

Hello Kai,

Thanks for updating this thread. It has been mention in our changelog that the site icons have been migrated to native WordPress "Site Icon" settings for cleaner brand management. You will have to upload the site icon in Appearance > Customize > Site Identity.

i am sorry but i do not find the site icon settings you mention.
here is a screenshot of what i find. do you refer to that?
it does not look wp nativ nor does it offer a favicon.
it is also a shame that the icon i put in just disappeared from the published site after one of the last theme updates.

It’s right there in the screenshot you have shared, look for “Website-Icon”, it’s a native WordPress option introduced since WordPress 4.3.

i tested it and it worked
so this automatically generates the 3 icons we had before in x?
can you confirm that the update of x/pro did remove the existing icons?

Hi kai,

Yes, this will replace these three icons set in the theme options before, these icons were unset after a recent theme update as the function is already included in WordPress customizer settings.
