Centering a Rev Slider background

I see this was not possible 4 years ago, but hoping there have been some workarounds in the meantime. I have an extra-wide Rev Slider file (2000x400px) that I’d like to position so that:

  1. it is centered in the viewport (image extending off screen left and right)
  2. it fills the vertical dimension specified in the column it’s in (so if the column is 260px tall, the Rev Slider is too, etc)

Possible? Thanks!

Hello Matt,

Thanks for writing in! I have checked your page and I am seeing that the Rev Slider is not centered. It is because you have set up a negative left margin and a wide width in your Row element settings.

You will have to set the width to 100% and use auto for your margins.

Be advised that as of this time, the Rev Slider plugin still does not have a setting to center a video. If you want to center the slider itself, will have to set a width that is as wide as your browser. Setting the width to auto or 100% should do it.

Best Regards.

Thanks for this. I’d added the negative margin because of the 2nd thing I asked about: what I’m trying to do is create a ‘window’ that the slider is centered in and fills, regardless of whether the aspect ratio of the window matches the image. The main reason I’m trying to do that is so I can control the height of the animation window as I configure for smaller screens. But when I change the height of the column, the entire video shrinks, vs fills, and it does so not centered.

Hello Matt,

The creators of the plugin have provided some tutorials about how to create a responsive slider. Still, it does not include adjusting the video or having full control over the video. Check out the videos here:

Best Regards.
