Category Archive Setup

Hi there!

I’m trying to create a category archive and can’t figure out how to structure the looper provider for the feed. Currently, it’s showing all Recent Posts:
https://breakingground.nueramarketing.com/category/climate-change/

Related, I would like to pagination at the bottom of this view. I added the “Post Pagination” element at the bottom of the layout, but it clearly isn’t set up correctly because it doesn’t display on the front end.

Thank you!

Hello @Nuera,

Thanks for writing to us.

It seems that you have set up the recent post on the Looper. I have set up the category post on your layout builder with pagination please have a look at it(Please note it has been hidden in all the devices you need to go to Customize—> Hide During Breakpoints and unhide it to check). Please note there are only two posts on the given category just because the pagination feature is not working. If you want to test it you need to go to the Dashboard—>Settings—>Reading—> Blog pages show at most set it as 1

Hope it helps
Thanks

Thank you, Prakash!

I’ve gone ahead and unhidden the section you created (thank you for that). But I can’t figure out the difference between my original section and what you’ve created below? I would like to apply the Provider/Consumer functions to that top section, but I’m genuinely eager to know how you filtered the categories.

Thank you!

Hello @Nuera,

You have set the Looper Provider as" Recent Posts", please note you are on the archive page so you don’t need any extra loop since there is a default loop running on the archive page. Please go through the example setup.

Hope it helps
Thanks

That’s exactly the piece I was missing - thank you, Prakesh!

Last question- Do you know how I can make the post pagination function on the blog main page?

Hello @Nuera,

If you are using the Layout Builder to create your custom blog index, you will need to disable the Looper Provider so that the Pagination will work. At the moment, you did not assigned the Blog page as your Posts Page which means that your Blog page is just a normal page. This in turn is also the cause why the Pagination element do not work.

To get your issue resolve, you must do the following:
1.) Edit the condition in your archive layout. You be using this condition:

2.) Go to Settings > Reading and make sure that you assign your Blog page as your Posts Page

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Thank you so much - this was perfect instruction!!!
