Can't see WPML translation

Hi there.

I have had significant problems with the translation and found irregularities. But since I am not the expert, I couldn’t explain the errors, and hence went on to reset WPML and do the translation all over. This time I have done a manual translation. However, one page remains problematic. Please compare:

the English default page /privacy-policy/
to the local translation /da/persondatapolitik/.

As you will see the automated text following the title ‘Cookies’ is translated to the local language. I did try to translate this before I reset the WPML konfiguration and tables, but not after. However, the local translation remains. Also, the content under Cookies paragraph 6 isn’t translated in the local version. I assume this relates to the previous translation before the reset. Only, I don’t seem to find the strings and don’t understand how this can happen after the reset? My objective is to avoid the translation of this specific Cookie section in the local version, because it is autogenerated.

Can you help me please? WPML support point me in your direction? Thanks.

Hey @nblund,

Are you referring to the Cookies popup? That is not coming from our theme but a 3rd party cookies plugin. Please report the issue to the cookies plugin developer as their plugin might not be compatible with WPML.

Thanks.

Hi there. Fair enough. Can I just ask: Knowing that the X-theme is WPML compliant I would have guessed that the Pro theme, too, would be compliant. However, WPML says it is not. Do you agree and what kind of issues should I expect in that case? Thanks.

Hi @nblund,

The WPML plugin is one of the supported plugins of the X theme and Pro, and the plugin works well with these. It quite not possible to say the problems that you will face, till you start using the WPML.

Thanks

Thanks @tristup, but you know, I am in fact using the WPML plugin today. And WPML.org are in fact saying that the Pro theme is not compliant although X theme is. I will, however, address the issue with the plugin provider. Thanks.

Hello @nblund,

You are welcome @nblund. Let us know what they say about the issues.

Thanks

Hi there. What is you reaction to WPML’s statement that Pro theme is not compliant with the WPML plugin (see below)? Many thanks.

WPML:

Hello,

Unfortunately, they are not the same themes, and page builder is not used in the same way. Pro theme and X theme are 2 different themes.

The only product from THEMECO that has been tested as compatible with WPML is their “X” theme.

Relevant links from Themaco:

I am sorry for any inconvenience but as mention in the shared ticket and my previous reply, please use the suggested workaround, contact the theme author, and ask them to join our compatibility program.

Let me know how it goes and if you have any other issues/doubts I will be glad to help out.

Kind regards,
Drazen

Hey @nblund,

There are 2 components of X/Cornerstone and Pro and those are the Classic Elements and V2 Elements of both Cornerstone and Pro builders.

The Classic Elements is what WPML support is referring to as compatible as in the past up until now, if you only use Classic Elements on the page, WPML can translate the content.

Now, if you’re using V2 Elements or your content contains V2 Elements, you would need to Manually Translate the content using the Cornerstone/Pro Translation Flags in the builder.

The Translation Flags use WPML’s Manual Translation method.

Hope that helps.
