Can't see editable content after update

I followed the advice on similar threads, deleting cornerstone (X already latest version) and re-installed as well as turned off all the plugins, etc. still no improvement. https://www.gulfbreezerecovery.com/
Since posting I saw an update so I deleted cornerstone again and updated to the latest version and no luck. I also switched from the child theme to make sure that was not an issue.
Now, after the latest update, all video and columns missing from the home page

Hi @vxrworks,

Thanks for reaching out and providing all your details.

I just went ahead and log in to your website using the credentials you provided. I can see that the editable content is not showing on your homepage and also, I check your other pages and the content is just viewable on the builder. I am assuming that the page was edited outside the cornerstone builder that’s why you have an issue viewing it. Please keep in mind that the content save inside the cornerstone cannot be edited outside the builder and vice versa. Worst case scenario is that you need to build your homepage again from the scratch.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

No, like all the other people in the forum with the same problem since the update. No editing outside cornerstone has been made and if you were to try to make a test page from scratch you will find the page builder still doesn’t allow cornerstone to load. Many other problems occurred since the update for other cornerstone users as well in the forum. I have been using cornerstone for years so why would I all of a sudden start editing outside of cornerstone. I was able to use as normal up until I updated cornerstone and x theme yesterday. This is extremely serious and I would appreciate a serious solution since this occurred after update, not because of using page-builder outside of cornerstone.

Hi @vxrworks,

It might be due to the improper up-gradation of the X theme and Cornerstone plugin, I would suggest you follow the below steps to troubleshoot.

  1. Delete the Cornerstone
  2. After deletion please use the link in the dashboard to automatically install the Cornerstone.

If that does not resolve your issue, please provide the login credentials to investigate it further. Please note that the previously provided credentials are not working.

Thanks

FYI the credentials work, after submitting if you go to the site you will have access to the dashboard, etc. Sorry for the lack of communication within the secure note with the credentials, I appreciate your time. I have done these things but will do them again. Also, I wish to be clear:

  1. I have never edited any of the pages or posts outside of the cornerstone with which they were built.
  2. The issue only occured after the updates
  3. I created a test page and got an error going to cornerstone "The preview could not load due to iframe response being incomplete. This is most often related to a plugin conflict, or customizations introducing a PHP error. Origin URL: https://gulfbreezerecovery.com/test/ (launching cornerstone on a fresh page without content)
  4. I have switched from the child and back and deactivated plugins, etc.

I have now performed suggested procedures without improvement, know content is visible on the backend cornerstone page builder :frowning: Page displaying properly on front end though so client is happy for now  I shall begin to have problems soon if not resilved as we add content weekly being vital to business, ranking, marketing, etc.

Hey @vxrworks,

I am another staff checking in. The credentials do not work for me either.

See the secure note.

Please double-check so we can log in and investigate your issue. Thanks.

I know it appears so, but if you go to the site after clicking login, it will be available. If you hit login, it appears to not do anything but if you click under to go to website you will see that you can see dashboard links etc.

Hello, @vxrworks,

I am another staff, unfortunately, the given login credentials are not working for me as well please recheck and send us again.

Thnaks

After hitting login, if you go to the website you will see you are logged in from the front end you can click on dashboard etc. It does appear that no login has occurred but it has. Also, I installed an update to 8.0.7 for X and Cornerstone update 5.0.7 but still no improvement.

Hello @vxrworks,

I was able to log in. It seems that your custom PHP code in child theme’s functions.php is causing an issue. Can we switch to the parent theme? Or maybe you can give us permission to put your site under construction mode so we can investigate the issue further.

In times like this, we would highly recommend that you create a staging site. This is very useful because you can test drive any X updates in the staging area, do the customizations and troubleshooting without disrupting your live site. Once everything is perfect, you can easily and flawlessly proceed with the update on the live site. To know how to create a staging area, please check out these articles:

Kindly let us know.

Sorry for the tardy response and thank you for getting back so quick after confusing login setup, etc.

I am unfamiliar with setting up a staging site so I will need to read the documents and check with what the host has available. In the meantime,

I am ok with you switching to the parent theme while you investigate although I wish you could exclude the featured image in the page layout, which is a child theme modification, for which you provided us code to add to not display featured image on static pages only. (Featured image not appearing in posts)

If you need to put the site under construction I will need to get permission from my client beforehand to make timely arrangements

I appreciate your help.

Hi @vxrworks,

It seems that the page content can’t be saved after modification, even after activating the parent theme. There might be a few different reasons behind the issue you are having. I would suggest you troubleshot a few common issues on this.

1.Plugin Conflict
2.Theme Update related issue
3.CSS/JS Customization

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If that does not help, I would request you to please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access in the secure note including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks
