Hi,
Unfortunately with many updates come trouble. After the last X-theme update, I can’t save my posts with a link in it, after I remove the link, the post saves without any problems.
I have tried solutions in the forum and nothing works. I even increased PHP memory in WP-Config that seems to work for others but not for me. I hate updates, they are a great deal of trouble, almost always. You guys should do a better job updating. Your updates equal many wasted hours trying to figure what went wrong and that is not good.
This is incredibly frustrating, please advice.
Hi @masouds,
Thanks for reaching out and providing your details.
I edit your posts because you added your WordPress credentials to your post which you shouldn’t do cause everyone can see it. I added the credentials in the secure note but unfortunately, the credentials you provided didn’t work, please double check it.
On the other hand, there’s a new update for the X theme which is X 8.0.8 and Cornerstone 5.0.8. Please update your theme and cornerstone plugin because it fixes various conflicts with the theme options and plugin conflict. Please let us know if the issue still persists after updating the X theme and Cornerstone plugin to the latest version.
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
Hi,
I have updated x and Cornerstone and the problem persists. I am not sure why login information showed since I used the hide details in my post.
I am login with the credentials that I gave you every day
Summary
Please let me know if you have any other problems logging into my site. I am frustrated beyond description at this point with my site breaking with x-updates. I am really getting too old for this.
Hi @masouds,
I have added a new post using the classic editor with the link and it works perfectly. I tried the same in Cornerstone builder with the link element and it works too. Please find the URLs in the secure note. I would suggest you clear the cache and try it again.
If that is not the case and you are trying to point out something else, please provide any screenshot marked with the issue or any video that helps us to recognize the problem.
Thanks
Hi,
Where did you get the information that I am running x-6.5.2? I am actually running the latest versions of X at 8.0.9 and Cornerstone 5.0.9 so what you say about the conflict from older versions is NOT TRUE. Additionally, X shows as validated on my WordPress back end but I keep getting Cornerstone not validated error.
I have spent many hours searching the Forum for a solution and nothing is working. This happened after an X update. My problem was that I can’t save a post in Cornerstone with a link in it. I see two posts from you on my site. One has nothing in it, for the other post you going outside the cornerstone and saving a link is an insult. I have attached a screenshot just before saving and getting an error.
This image shows my trying to insert a link in the post, when I click save, I get an Oh No Failed to save. When I remove the link, the post saves.
Can someone there solve my problem? I have done all that I can.
The backend on my Wordpress site shows that X is validated. But I get Cornerstone validation error. Per forum posts, I went to themse.co and tried to download x-theme. Somehow my license is changed from the single X-theme to single-Pro which I do not want or need. I did not make that change. This could be the reason that I keep validation errors. Could you revert to X license please so I can go and download a new X and download it to my site. I have disabled all plugins except for Cornerstone and I still can’t save a page with a link in it.
I have put is the license number from the Themeco and still get validation errors.
Hi @masouds,
I’m sorry it’s been difficult for us to reproduce the issue. It’s been intermittent and I’ve only trigged it once even though I’ve tried multiple links, but I think I finally triggered it.
When Cornerstone tries to save, it is interrupted by CloudFlare. Here’s a bit of the HTML response coming back. Cornerstone doesn’t recognize this and it shows the failed to save message. The save doesn’t happen either because CloudFlare is blocking the Post request.

It’s probably some security countermeasure. I’m not sure why this would be happening but you will need to adjust your CloudFlare configuration to resolve it.
Hi,
The only way to reproduce my result is to link a text on a post and then try to save it. Just putting a link on a post is not the way to do it. Just put any text on a post and then try to link it and save it. Please see the screenshot above, It will not save. I really need more information about it rather it is from Cloudflare. I have spent 3 days on this deleting x-theme, re-installing it, deactivating all plugins, etc. Nothing works.
Looking forward to a reason and solution, thank you.
I have a very large site and can’t move it to another theme or at this point, or I would.
By the way, stopping Cloudflare by putting it in development mode doesn’t help either. If the problem is Cloudflare, then I should be able to save the post, right? But it doesn’t save.
Hey @masouds,
This is because of some security setting on your site. Please contact your web host to allow REST actions to avoid this issue.
{"code":"rest_forbidden","message":"Sorry, you are not allowed to do that.","data":{"status":401}}
If your web host is not sure what it is, please give us cPanel access so we could check some server settings.
Thanks.
Thank you. I will contact my hosting company and see what they say.
