Can't import template (.tco) file

Hi,

I have a staging site and a live site. For over two years we’ve used Cornerstone to create our layouts on Staging and transfer them to Live using the template download/upload feature. This worked great with the old .csl files but the newer Template Manager and .tco files have been nothing but trouble.

Most recently, we’ve built six templates for a major release happening tomorrow morning. I’m able to save and apply the templates to other posts on Staging no problem, but when I download the templates and try to import them on our Live site, the import fails and I see an error message that says “Uh oh! Sorry, your file is not properly formatted.”

Can someone help me get these templates onto our Live site ASAP, and explain to me how a template file exported FROM Cornerstone is not properly formatted to import TO Cornerstone?

Thanks.

Hi,

Please make sure that your staging and live site has the same version of the theme and cornerstone before downloading and importing your templates.

Thanks

Yes, I have the same versions on both staging and live. X-Theme 6.0.4 and Cornerstone 3.0.4.

Hi there,

If they are old templates then there could be some feature gaps. I recommend restoring your site to the version where Template Manager is not yet available. Then clone it to a staging and do the updates there (for Template Manager to become available). Then on your existing contents, save them as templates. This process will then make the templates conform to the new template manager.

Another way is don’t update your staging as of yet, and import your old CSL/TCO there for each dummy page. Then update it where the template manager is available, and lastly, edit those dummy pages and save them as a template.

Thanks!
