Can't Get Video Background to Work

Hello,

I can’t figure out why the video won’t play in the background of my website on the home page. I’ve uploaded the file to media on my website. I’m taking the url from there and placing it in the X Pro Header, but it won’t load. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @AaronLentz,

Thanks for reaching out and I can confirm the issue in your header. Forcing it to play isn’t working either (eg. jQuery('video.x-mejs').get(0).play(); Promise {<pending>});

Would you mind providing your admin login credentials so I could test it directly in the header? For the meantime, you could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes!

Hey @AaronLentz,

The issue is not with Cornerstone. The video does not play in the browser itself.

I uploaded a stock video to see if it’s only a problem with your current video but I get a white screen when accessing it.

This tells us that there’s something in your server preventing access to the videos or causing it to break.

Please contact your host’s support to see if you’re allowed to host videos or why the videos aren’t playing. If it’s not allowed, you will need to move to a better host.

Thanks.

Hey Christian,

Thanks for looking into this. Are you sure it’s a hosting issue? The website it hosted with Bluehost. I’m also seeing the video that you loaded.

It does seem like something is weird though when it comes to uploading things.

I see that it works inside the Media library but not when you access it directly. It’s also possible that something in your WordPress setup is incorrect or you’re using a non-standard setup. But, please check with your host first as they can access error logs. Tell us what the result of their findings.

Thanks.

Hey Christian,

So I figured out that I’m able to get the video background to work if I disable the following plugins:

  • Easy Social Share Buttons for WordPress
  • Toolset Views

Any idea on how to keep these plugins activated and still get the video to show. I really need “Toolset Views” to be active I can deal without “Social Share Buttons for Wordpress”.

I appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks!

Hi there,

As the plugins you mentioned are third party plugins, we would not be able to provide more details due to the fact that there is simply no way to account for all of the potential variables at play when using another developer’s plugin or script. Because of this, any questions you have regarding setup, integration, or troubleshooting any piece of functionality that is not native to X will need to be directed to the original developer.

Thank you for your understanding.
