Can't get a sidebar on blog page

Hello,

I am running X-Pro version 5.1.5.

I am having trouble setting up the Blog page with a sidebar. The main column is using the fullwidth of page minus a small margin (.x-main: width: calc(100% - 2.463055%); . The sidebar can’t be displayed properly and is pushed down the page below the content. ( https://wwwfluentststg.wpengine.com/lm-blog-test/ )

I tried to follow the configuration settings you recommend in multiple forum articles :

–> In Theme Options -> Layout and Design : Site Layout = Fullwidth | Content Layout = Content
/ Sidebar | Site Max 1440 pixels
–> In Theme Options, Blog and Archives are set to Standard / Global

In Appearances -> Sidebars : I have configured a sidebar (ID ups-sidebar-blog-sidebar ) and checked “Enable on Blog index page” .

If you look at the page source , you can see the Sidebar content. The problem is the layout. How can I fix it so that the sidebar displays on the side of the page?

Thank you ,

Lisianne

Hi Lisianne,

Thanks for reaching out.
I have checked your Blog Page and found that the content section is taking the full width and pushing the sidebar out of the screen. There might be a few different reasons behind that and the most common reason is the Broken HTML in the content which breaks the structure of the Page. It may be that some post has the content with the Broken HTML tags. If that is not the case, please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I can see how a broken HTML could break the layout but I have checked the content and quite frankly, I don’t think it is the case . One reason is that if I limit the blog page to one article ( https://wwwfluentststg.wpengine.com/lm-blog-test/?s=brennan ) I can see the same problem ( the sidebar is in the page source but does not display because the Content column takes the whole width ) . I have provided the credentials in a secure note. It would be nice if you could check the config . I am sure I am overlooking something obvious …

Thank you,
Lisianne

Hi Lisianne,

I have checked your website and I found that you have set the content width to 100% from the Theme Options > Layout and Design, and that is why the content section is taking the full width, I went ahead and set it to 75% to make the sidebar width of 25% and now the sidebar is coming properly.

Thanks

Fantastic ! Thank you so much . In addition, you answered the question I had in the back of my mind: where to set the size of the sidebar!
Thanks again - I greatly appreciate your help !

Lisianne

Hi Lisianne,

The rest part of the content width will be taken as sidebar width in case you are using a layout with sidebar. In your case it is 25% as I set the content width 75%.

Thanks
