After updating my theme, I can’t find all the code that was in the CSS customizer in child theme. I have some CSS from another near-identical site and just placed into the new customizer area in the meantime, but I’d really like to find the old code but have no idea where it would have moved to.

Thank you for writing in, the screenshot you showed above is not the same CSS area.
The one on the right (named new) is located at Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and is a native feature of WordPress.
The one on the left (named old) is the featured of the Theme, that is under X > Theme Options > CSS
Please take a look on that CSS area.
Pages has that same CSS area as well but its specific to page only, please take a look on your page too.
