Can't edit pages and posts after update, something goes wrong when you update every time!

Hi,
My website is lasvegas4us.com and every time you update I shake in my boots since something will inevitably go wrong. I wouldn’t ever have purchased your product if I knew how much trouble I will be in.
Lat time that you updated I contacted you about not being able to scroll down in pages or posts, which is still unresolved, and now I can’t edit them either. Come on! Test your updates before unleashing it on us. I am extremely frustrated. I did delete Cornerstone and re-installed it with no effects. What needs to be done?

Hello @masouds,

Thanks for writing in!

We highly recommend that you set up a staging site. You can update to the latest version of the WP core, the theme or any of the plugins in the staging site first to check for any errors, conflicts and incompatibility issues before pushing to your live site. This is to prevent any untoward incidents after the updates and having your live site displaying any errors. Please have a look at this article to learn more about how to move the live site to the staging server. https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-staging-environment-for-a-wordpress-site/

You may also need to check this:

Also, since you have installed WP Rocket, after doing the updates, you will have to clear all your caches first before testing your site. I also noticed that you are using Cloudflare. Again, you need to purge your site cache in Cloudflare before you can test your site. This is to make sure that the code from the latest updates is serve by your server and not the cache page from WP Rocket plugin and Cloudflare.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hey Buddy,

I am a lowly Realtor and have purchased x-theme for a simple real estate when you guys started X-Theme. I do NOT know much about staging areas and all that. That is why your updates drive me crazy. You should let people know that your product updates a lot and keeps braking their site. That way people like me would avoid it. Additionally you guys can test your updates so it doesn’t brake sites.

I have turned off all plugins except Corner Stone with no effect and deleted and reinstalled Cornerstone and cleared style cache with no effect.

I think it is a little too late for the staging site. I need you guys to let me know what broke, so I could fix it.

I have posted log in credentials in a secure note and will appreciate your help.

Hello @masouds,

Sorry for your inconvenience, I tried to access your site dashboard but we are not able to access your site login URL due to security plugin or IP restrictions. I would suggest you disable the security plugin so that we can access your site dashboard and check it at our end.

Thanks

I have deactivated Sucuri, but Cloudflare may give you problems, if it does, please give me your IP so can whitelist it in Cloudflare. Thanks for the help.

Hey @masouds,

I tried to access your backend but it is still blocked by the sucuri plugin. Regarding the IP address, we are working from different countries and we can’t give you our static IP address. That being said, I suggest that you fully disable all the IP restrictions from accessing your backend.

Thank you.

Hi,

I have deactivated both Sucuri and Cloudflare on my site, you should be able to get in. However, I have had deactivated Succuri on my site yesterday, but it blocked me today. Please let me know if you have any problems getting in. Right now my site is defenseless.

Hello @masouds,

Sucuri is still blocking us. We cannot log in.

Please deactivate it so we can log in and check your site.

Thanks.

Please try again, i wanted to attach screenshot of deactivated Sucuri in my plugin page, but can’t find a way to do so. If you can’t log in again, I am not sure what to do. I have deactivated both sucuri and Cloudflare on my site.
How can I attach a image to these posts?

GOD these updates are driving me insane.

Hello @masouds,

Please use the image icon in your response.

By the way, the Sucuri is still active.
Check the video in the secure note.

Thanks.

Hi,
I don’t doubt that you are blocked by Sucuri. All I could do was to deactivate it is the back end of of my Wordpress website, which I have. I have searched for a day on how to disable it and it can’t be done without changing a bunch of DNS in the Cloudflare. I have had this disastrous X-theme updates many time before and each time they gave me an IP to whitelist, I am not sure why it is not possible now. Obviously we are at a dead end, what do I need to do? I am just a Realtor who made a grave mistake in buying X-Theme.

Hello,

I have contacted Sucuri and they thought me how to temporarily disable it. Hopefully you will not have any problems logging in. Please fix this problem one last time. Even though it is very risky, I will turn off Wordpress updates because I am sic of all of these unneeded problems. You guys NOT providing your IP to get whitelisted adds to the problems. Looking forward to the solution as I have wasted a full day trying to deactivate Sucuri.

Hello @masouds,

I am already seeing the WP login form. Still, I cannot log in. It could be that the password is incorrect or something.

Check the video in the secure note below.

Thank you.

Hello @masouds,

I was able to log in to your site. This is what I am seeing when editing page or post:

I have edited some of the pages and posts. No issues encountered so far. I could say that maybe the WP Rocket has already cleared the caches and regenerated its cache which consists of the codes from the latest update.

One thing to keep in mind that after every updates, you MUST clear all your plugin caches before you test your site again. You must also make sure that all of the WP core, theme and plugins are up to date because there are times that an out dated plugin can create problems in your site.

Best Regards.

Hi,

I am very familiar with clearing W_Rocket cache and flushing Cloudflare files, however it didn’t fix my problem and my back end is NOT working right. Please see Youtube video below

I have deactivated Sucuri and Cloudflare for a few days now and need to activate them again. So, I would really appreciate resolvng this problem as soon as possible.

Hey @masouds,

I tried to replicate the steps you’ve made in your video but I am not getting the page unresponsive issue. That being said, there could be an extension in your Google Chromes that affects the behavior. I suggest that you disable all the extensions in your Google Chrome or you try using incognito mode.

Hope that helps and let us know how it goes.

Hi,

I hope all is well. I did remove all extensions from Google Chrome and it didn’t help. Then I uninstalled and re-installed Chrome and the problem got resolved. Strange indeed and thanks for your help. I am seriously considering not updating any longer.

Hey @masouds,

We’re glad that it is now working properly on your end! If you have any other concerns or clarifications regarding our theme features, feel free to open up a new thread.

Thank you.
