Cant assign Footer from Footerbuilder in Pro

Hi

Currently having more problems with the Pro edition, on a new site (“https://focusnue.wpengine.com/” for now).

The Footer builder seems to work as intended in its preview, but Im unable to delegate the footer to “all pages” from its setting.

Focusnue is a duplication of Focus.no, so that I may work in the Pro features, parallel to the original site functioning. Later we will transfer the domains etc.

  • I have tried the same footer and layout settings as on a working site (Byggdata, had similar problems from an earlier post).
  • I have tried reinstalling the Pro theme / plugin several times. (But unsure what and if to uninstall first)
  • Plugins are updated, have also tried deactivating all of them.
  • The only difference I can see between Byggdata and Focusnue, is that when I hover the WP-edit bar, I cant see edit Footer.
  • Header builder seems to work as intended.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for reaching out.
There might be some different reasons behind your issue, I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

1.Theme Related Issue
2.Plugin Conflict
3.Theme Update related issue
4.CSS/JS Customization
5.Disabling Cache

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If none of the above helps and the issue persists, we need to investigate it thoroughly. I would suggest you upload the files to a server and please provide login credentials for your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hey

Ye I’ve tried all of the above, and the Footer issue is still ongoing.
Leaving a note for you.

Hi Jan,

The user required Admin privileges to investigate the issue further. Please assign the privileges and let us know for further investigation.

NOTE: The user with the Contributor role does not have access to Footers.

Thanks

Gotcha, all leveled up now.

Hi Jan,

I have checked your website and found the issue described here. I would suggest you contact the Hosting Service provider and ask to clear the Server Level cache. If that does not help, please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access in the secure note including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hi again

I’ve had a chat with our admin, and we aparantly did the sercer cache clearing earlier, so that wont work.

I have made a site copy, where you may play around.
Details to follow.

Hello Jan,

It seems that it is an issue with the server cache. I would suggest you please purge all the cache and then check it again. I would also recommend you follow these steps.

  1. Activate the default theme of WordPress and deactivate the Pro theme
  2. Delete the Pro theme
  3. Download the fresh copy of the Pro theme from the Themeco account dashboard
  4. Reinstall the Pro theme

If it doesn’t work, if the issue still persists please let us know.

Thanks

Hey, this isnt working :frowning:

I have purged all caches and reinstalled Pro-theme as instructed, on both clone sites.
Footer still does not work as intended on either site.

Any other ideas on how to solve this, or do I have to rebuild everything, again?

Hi Jan,

It might be a conflict with a plugin, Please do a Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Also, try running a plugin with Transient Cleaner like WP-Optimize – Cache, Clean, Compress., to make sure there is no cache residue on your site.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Hey, guess this works now.
I somehow made the Footer feature available again, on the main branch page Im working on atleast.

Not sure how, because I’ve made all the steps 6+ times before, on-site and on different clones.
But maybe the combination of cache cleaning / WP-Optimize after disabling plugins finally got through.

Steps:

  • I did a plugin deactivation of all plugins.
  • Did some cleaning with the WP-Optimize. (Database optimizing and cache purging)
  • Page-preview showed the footer menu from the builder to be properly working now.
  • Activating the plugins in chunks did not disturb the footer. Still works.

I tried replicating this in one of the extra clones, to see what triggered the fix.
Could not replicate a fix with the above steps… so I can only assume the internet gods saw pity on me for once.

Since the footer works now on the main branch, and I can access Edit Footer in the top ribbon, I assume that everything will work smoothly from now on.

In the future, on new installs, I will do more tests to check for the footer and header bugs early on.

.

Thanks for the help,

Idar & Jan

Hi Idar & Jan,

It’s very hard to recognize what is the exact reason behind this issue. But it is great that it is resolved now.

Thanks
