Can't add to functions.php; I receive a critical error

Hi,

I am attempting to follow this tutorial on how to style the WooCommerce’s empty cart page. Yet each time I add to functions.php (tried with both the child theme and the parent theme), I receive a critical error on the cart page.

What I want to do is alter the styling of the empty cart page provided by WooCommerce as well as the order confirmation page. I don’t see an option to do either via Pro and I’m not sure what’s going on with the inability to add a function to functions.php?

Thanks.

Hello Natasha,

Thanks for writing to us.

The tutorial that you have shared only works on the Divi theme just because you are getting errors. Please remember, the feature that you want it would require custom development support, I would suggest you need to contact a developer who can assist you with your concern or you can subscribe to One where customization questions are answered. Please note we don’t provide custom development support. It is out of the support scope.

Thanks for understanding

(ETA: I started a topic on the following issue here since it seems to be happening site-wide after the update)

Well, a strange thing is happening. Since I updated the theme, my custom code (entered via the CSS tabs in the Cornerstone builder) that used to work for styling no longer works anywhere on the site. Did something critical change? I’m not sure why CSS that worked before the update no longer works now.

This is incredibly, incredibly frustrating. Not only does it seem that we have no way to customize the styling on WooCommerce pages, the custom CSS as directed by ThemeCo’s own video tutorials no longer works either. For instance, I followed your video series “Creative Contact Forms” and that CSS no longer works after the update.

Is there any way to style the WooCommerce pages within this builder without having to pay for more ThemeCo services or having to hire another developer? Is there a way to get custom CSS working again?

Hello Natasha,

Can you please provide your custom CSS code that is not working so that we can check what happen? We need to check your code from CSS Specificity or any invalid code.

Be advised that most of the WooCommerce pages are generated dynamically using the WooCommerce shortcodes.

These pages cannot be edited in the builder. You would be needing custom CSS if you want to style one of these pages. You can only use Layout Builder to create a custom shop index or product archive pages.

Best Regards.
