I am trying to update the site at www.gomotorcycling.net. It is running 4.1.1 x theme. But I have just upgraded to pro. It will not validate. Am I running an old theme version which is not allowing it to update?

Thank you for writing in, yes that version (X 4.1.1) is kind of outdated to do an automatic update.
Please install the PRO theme instead as if you’re installing a new theme (because it is).
Caution: Please deactivate the Cornerstone plugin first before activating the PRO theme to avoid conflict.
The design of the site should be retained even after switching to PRO, unless the site is heavily modified via the Child Theme, In this case, you need to install a Pro child theme and moved all your x-child theme customization to the pro-child theme.
Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

I inherited this account from and I am trying to fix it and noticed it does have a child theme running. I will update to Pro child theme. But in the future can I change from the child to regular pro without ramifications?

It is generally a good practice to have a child theme install and activated on your site because you might need to add some customization on the site that the theme does not have an out of the box option for. Changes like this will require you to override some template files which should be done through the child theme because if you update the codes of the parent theme, those custom codes will disappear when you update the parent theme.
