Cannot remove item from basket

Hi,

For some reason I can not remove an item from the cart on the ‘basket page’ of my woocommerce shop.

I can not seem to find a fix for why this is happening?

Hello Jamie,

Thanks for posting in! I have checked your site and I can confirm that you cannot remove any product in the cart page. Do you have any other WooCommerce addons or plugins installed? You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If the issue still exist, please re install X theme and Cornerstone. There might be some files that were corrupted. You can review our update guide and see the Manual Update section to re install X.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hi,

Yes I’ve got a few woocommerce addon plugins installed and other plugins. I’ve deactivated all plugins (apart from woocommerce obviously) and this made no difference. I also tried your suggestion of deleting and reinstalling the X theme (I did this manually via ftp). This did not work either.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Hey Jamie,

I see you’re using W3 Total Cache. WooCommerce pages should not be cached so you need to exclude them in WTC. Please contact WTC support to learn how to do that. If that does not solve the issue, please purge all caches and completely uninstall WTC then test again.

Hi

Yes I actually just installed that now temporarily to see if clearing the cache would make a difference but unfortunately the problem persisted before it and since now also after I’ve deleted the W3 Total Cache. So I’m really stumped as to what the problem is as it’s not cache related.

The things I’ve tested now are:

  1. Deactivated all plugins except Woocommerce and tested
  2. Deleted all cache related plugins and tested
  3. Switched to another theme (2017) and tested
  4. Cleared all additional CSS and Custom CSS
  5. Searched high and low on Google for answers

I have contacted Woocommerce to see if they can help but have recieved no reply from them.

If you have any other suggestions please do let me know.

I have fixed a part of this. I figured out that by changing the product options to be allowed to be purchased more that 1 copy, this then highlighted the Quantity field in the basket which could then be set to ‘0’ and once 'update basket is clicked then the item can be removed from the basket.

However the ‘x’ remove button still doesn’t work to remove the item from the basket.

I have now fixed this. I had the .htaccess file written the wrong way which was causing problems with the permalinks. So I set this correctly and it now works properly.

Glad that you fixed the problem. It is interesting that a wrong htaccess rule may have a side effect of the problem of removing products from the Woocommerce Cart.
