Cannot assign / create layouts for one specific CPT type?

I am really pulling my hair out over this one.

I have several CPT’s. For these I have created single layouts, assigned to the post type. This works just fine.

For example, i have a CPT “exercise” and Cornerstone let’s me edit the layout as expected:

I am now trying to create a single layout for another CPT. I can build and preview the layout in Cornerstone:

HOWEVER

… Despite the assignment this CPT keeps getting the regular post layout.

And when i click the Cornerstone button in the admin bar when viewing this particular post type, it does NOT give me the “edit layout” option with this CPT. As if there this CPT does not allow layouts??

To the best of my knowledge, Cornerstone settings are correct. What am i missing here?

I have no idea why… but all of a sudden it is working as expected???

The only things i have done since creating the original post is saving permalinks and clearing Cornerstone cache (but i had done that previously too).

Anyway, please consider this topic closed!
