Can woo commerce display categories but no products?

Hi,
I have set up WooCommerce to display only sub categories on a category page, but the products still are displayed.
I need this because I want to display a product table (by shortcode in the category description) instead of the default WC product grid.
Can you help?
Thanks!
Hannes

HI Hannes,

Sure! Please go to Appearance > Customize > Woocommerce > Product Catalog then set *Shop page display to Show Categories.

Hope this helps.

I did this already, but with no success.
I send you the site in a secure note.

Hey Hannes,

Sorry for the confusion. The Category page setting is not the same as the Shop page. Please ensure you’ve selected Show subcategories only under Category Display and not Show subcategories & products

If you already selected that and the issue persists, there might be a third party plugin or custom code that is overriding woocommerce_content. Please check if there’s something conflicting by switching to the parent theme and deactivating WooCommerce related plugins and plugins that you can input custom functions then test if the issue persists.

I’ve just tested X and Pro in my test sites and they respect the WooCommerce options in the Customizer.

Thanks.

Thank you - I will try this!

Let us know the result!

Thanks

This didn’t work.
I have deactivated ALL plugins, but WooCommerce.
I have activated WP Sixteen theme.
The settings are:
Customizer > WooCommerce > Category display: “Show subcategories”
Category > Display Type: “Default” OR “Subcategories”

Hi there,

Please provide us with the admin and FTP access to your site in a Secure Note (key icon under the replies you post/posted) so that we can further check this:

Thank you.

OK , see secure note

The product archive page you posted is a sub-category that is why it’s showing the products because there’s no more sub-category to show. See secure note.

The setting I suggested to you works.

If you want to remove the products to be displayed in the subcategory pages, you will need to override the woocommerce_content function.

That goes inside the territory of WooCommerce custom development which is beyond the scope of our support though so if you’re not familiar with web development, I’d recommend that you consult with a professional WooCommerce developer.

Thank you for understanding.

OK I understand - thank you!

You’re welcome, Salilou.
