Can a cell be a component?

I was able to create the cell and export it as a component, but I am unable to select and use it as a cell inside an empty grid. The cell in question is a looper consumer, and I need to be able to adjust the parameters for it depending on where it’s being used.

Hello Sheri,

Thanks for writing in! The Cell can only be used inside the GRID. You can create the CELL as a component but you will have a hard time adding it anywhere. It is best that you use a GRID or DIV as your Component instead.

I wanted to use my component cell inside a grid but I don’t see an option to do so. The places where I want to use it already have grids set up. I’ll have to change my overall design.

You should probably disable the ability to export a cell as a component if it isn’t possible to put a component cell into an existing grid. As it stands you can make a component cell, but you can’t use it.

Hi Sheri,

The Grid element allows you to add the Cells only, and you can’t have the option to choose any other element. I would request you follow the suggestion given by my colleague on this.

I understand the suggestion and I am already changing the way I do it. The point of my reply is to suggest addressing this as a bug or a feature request, however it should be categorized.

Cornerstone should not allow you to create and export cell components. if there is no way to use cell components in a grid.
