Button Not Linking to External Site?

Hi there, I’m trying to add a button to my homepage that links to an external site. For some reason, even when I type in the unique URL, when I click the button it takes me to —> "www.mysite.com/www.externalsite.com, instead of www.externalsite.com. Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks in advance for the help!

In the URL text box, please make sure to enter the full URL in following format http://example.com/ or http://www.example.com/.
