Hi there,
I just tried to create a download button for a PDF download. Unfortunately it does not work. The same with an anchor link I created. Can you see why?
I am also having issues with buttons setup to anchor to sections on the same page.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for writing around! @blueprint I checked your links and the download like you’re using in the button is not correct please use the following link instead (see secure note)
@j0hnwat3rman You might be having the same issue, double check the URL you’re using and make sure it’s a valid URL.
Thanks!
I have setup a couple of buttons. Within the button element, I’ve assigned the URL to be something like “#anchor-1”. Each button URL with an anchor is unique.
I’ve then set the ID to be “anchor-1” in a section further down the page.
Any glaring issues with that approach?
Also, FWIW if I open the button’s link in a new tab, it’s correctly taking me to the anchor within that page, which I think confirms the button URL was assigned correctly.
Hi There @j0hnwat3rman
Did you use the full site URL to link to your elements?
http://www.example.com/test-page#anchor-1
Please provide us with the URL to your sample page, so that we can check your issue.
Thanks!
This was my fault guys, and I apologize for time wasted.
I copied an old install when I initial set this up a few weeks back, and while I had updated the theme and plugins, I forgot that it also copied over custom JS that had been previously added to correct the anchor offset if the header was fixed.
So, the anchor links are indeed working. Apologies, again for pulling you off other support notes.
I am, however, still running into the issue where the fixed header overlaps the section setup with the anchor link. Would you prefer I address that in a new forum thread?
Thank you! I found my error:
At first I added # in the ID field of the section like #my-section. Removing that solved both problems.
Glad you’ve sorted it out and thank you for sharing the solution with us.
Cheers!
