Builder Previews Not Always Showing Laptop Size

Hi,

This is more of a niggle than a real problem and I have been meaning to mention it for months! I have noticed that when editing layouts for either Pro Headers, Footers or Content, I am often not seeing the layout I am trying to view using the preview toggles, mainly the laptop sizing.

The screenshot below hopefully shows you what I mean. In the case of this screenshot, I am viewing the content on a 24 inch screen. Irrespective of whether the editing tools are docked to the left or the bottom of the screen I get the below scenario:

1. The laptop view is enabled in the Bar’s Customize settings
2. The preview size is set to the laptop setting
3. The review displays the Tablet layout!!!

I have three layouts in use for this blue section of the footer - Desktop & Laptop, Tablet (for both landscape & portrait aspects), Mobile. Each layout is allocated to the specific screensizes at Bar level in Customize, whilst disallowing the otehr screen sizes.

The desktop, tablet landscape, tablet portrait and mobile views are display fine - just not the laptop view. Is this a bug, or could there be a setting that needs changing somewhere?

On a similar note, if I view exactly the same scenario on my laptop, which has full HD screen resolution (1920px x 1080px - Dell XPS 13) and I have the preview set to Desktop of Laptop sizes, only Tablet or lower are able to be previewed. Is this normal behaviour?

Thanks for posting in! I have tried the replicate the issue on my end and I cannot replicate it. I am using a 27-inch (5120 x 2880) display. The preview is displaying as expected.

Strangely, the behaviour seems to be on Chrome only. If I use Edge, all appears correctly. It must be a local issue on this laptop.

When editing with Pro on a smaller screen (13" diameter / 1920 x 1080px), can the correct preview size be viewed, or will only the maximum available be shown? For example, on this screen size, if I edit a page, I am unable to see the desktop and laptop sizes and am always given the Tablet version. Should the editor force the chosen screen size, or is that not possible?

Should this also be resolved:

Hi Christopher,

When using smaller screen laptops, you can rearrange the Work Space in the editor. You can make it float over the builder so that you will have a wider preview area. Take the image below for example:
