Buggy Release X 8.04 and Cornerstone 5.04

Dear Team,
unfortunately your latest release seems to be not tested well.
We have several sites running into various problems. We have restored Backups on critical sites, and left other sites updated, where (at least) the frontend looks right.

The errors are:

  • Couple of sites do have Layer Slider completely broken. Even in Layer Slider the slides are not working anymore in the backend.
  • One site revolution slider is broken
  • One site has a broken menu, which looks fine in cornerstone but not in the frontend
  • Several sites do show correctly in the frontend, but the editor (cornerstone) shows the pages either grey, or it renders the page but texts are missing etc. The editor is basically useless.

The question now is: Do we need to restore everything or is this a temporary error and the editor will render it correctly in the future?
Please advise,
Matt

Hi Matt,

I would first recommend updating to the latest versions (both X and Cornerstone that we pushed to automatic updates today. Please advise what remaining issues you are experiencing afterwards and include a link to your site and we can take a closer look.

Hi Alexander,
thank you. Everything is on the latest version.
I will attach login info in a secure note for couple of sites.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

We are really sorry that you are experiencing that issue, a few hours ago we have released another version of the theme with some fixes. I would request you to update your theme as suggested by my colleague to the latest point release i.e. 8.0.6 and Cornerstone to 5.0.6. Please let us know if you still experiencing the issue.

Thanks

Hi Tristup,
thank you for the reply. Yes, the new release fixed all issues except on one site. On this particular site ONE cornerstone page now is showing as “text”. What I mean is, that it looks like the content has been edited outside of cornerstone. The frontend page is blank.
Bevor the update, this page worked fine.
I put the details in the secure note, maybe you mangage to make a proper cornerstone page out of it again?
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,

It’s great that resolved most of the issues. The page content of the given URL, can’t be restored into the builder, and it shows blank, but it shows the proper output in the browsers. If it is not possible to create it from scratch, I would suggest you restore your backup into the stagging site, and export the pages from it and import it to your live site, which may help you to recover the page.

Hope it helps.
Thanks

Thank you Tristup, will do!
Best,
Matt

You’re welcome, Matt.

Hi Team,
with the latest 8.07 version we now have issues, the cornerstone editor does not load properly anymore…
Please see attached the secure details.
Thank you.
Matt

I’d like to confirm I’m having catastrophic issues, too. I am in the process of restoring our most critical site. I had this same type of catastrophic issue a couple of years, too, with this same site. I’d hoped I’d never see it again.

Site loads, but none of the pages are editable. This particular site is an “older” X theme site. I haven’t tested all of them, but some of my “newer” X theme sites seem to be working.

I’m also experiencing issues with the latest update. The collapsed navigations is no longer working on all sites that have been updated to Pro 4.0.7.

I’ve reverted all websites back to the latest stable build (3.2.3), and the issue is now resolved.

Additionally, when opening the Header editor, I was unable to see the Header only the page.

I’m a long time customer. Own around 10 licenses. I’m not sure you folks realize how bad this release is. You need to pull it. It’s wreckless to allow people who haven’t updated yet to use it. Wreckless!

Hello Lanaprinzip,

I have logged in to your site and I could not replicate the issue.

Which page are you experiencing the issue on? It could also be caused by a plugin conflict, amongst other things. Please check out this troubleshooting article here and follow the instructions for the following sections (where appropriate):

  • Testing for Plugin Conflict
  • Child Theme
  • CSS/JS Customization
  • Disabling Cache
  • Disabling CDN
    ,
After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches since you are using WP Rocket so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors. And please clear your browser cache too. You may use private browsing mode in testing your site to make sure that you are viewing the latest codes from the updates and not the cached version in your browser.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
thank you for the resonse. Sorry for not being more precise. It does not happen on all pages, but an example ist the “home” page itself.
See how it looks:

Please note that it did work perfectly fine before the update. Of course all caches are emptied.
Thanks,
M

Hey M,

There’s a conflicting plugin on your site. Please do a plugin conflict test as suggested by Ruenel previously. Clearing cache is just of the common troubleshooting for WordPress websites. Here’s the list of troubleshooting steps again applicable for your case upon checking.

  1. Testing For Plugin Conflict
  2. Theme Update
  3. Child Theme
  4. Version Compatibility

You can let us know what plugin is conflicting and we’ll submit it in our issue tracker so it will be queued for testing by our development team if it’s a free plugin.

If it’s a paid plugin that is conflicting, we need you to copy your site to a staging server so we avoid the risk of changing something accidentally in your site.

Thanks.

Dear Christian,
thank you. We did extensive testing and found the issue:
The new update does not work with this free plugin:
WP External Links, Version 2.47 | Von WebFactory Ltd
Hope the info helps,
Matt

Hey There,

Please try updating to our newest release .8 and let us know if this resolved the issue. Thanks!

Sorry no, the problem is still there.
We did a workaround and removed the plugin for now.
We can close the ticket. Kindly put it on the dev diary to do…
Tnx,
Matt

Hi Matt,

It is great that you find a workaround. I would like to suggest you update the newest version of the theme released a few hours ago i.e 8.0.9.

Thanks
