Broken Theme Causing All Kinds of Issues

Hi there,

After migrating our site over from a staging environment, our theme has broken and is doing some weird stuff I’ve never seen before.

  1. Our editing icons in the Pro builder are all missing. So editing in Pro is suddenly extremely difficult.
  2. Our recent posts widget on our footer is broken and completely missing.
  3. Our Essential Grid is broken and the editing capabilities are no longer working. Can’t even start from scratch to rebuild a new grid. Additionally, the content and icons that are usually there to guide editing are no longer there or missing letters. Weirdest thing I’ve seen so far

PLEASE HELP :weary:

Thanks,
Samantha

Hi Samantha,

Thank you for writing in, yes there is an issue on your site, please do the following.

  • Clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache), even the once that has been deactivated. Activate it again and clear its cache.

  • Do a testing for plugin conflict

  • Deactivate the PRO theme and Activate it back.

  • Navigate to Settings > Permalink and save it without changing anything, this is to re-index your permalinks.

If the issue persists after all these, I’m afraid you need to redo the migration process, but this time please follow the guide provided here.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Hi @friech,

Just completed all of the following:

  • Cleared all caches

  • Did a testing for plugin conflicts

  • Deactivated and reactivated the PRO theme

  • Saved the permalink settings

Unfortunately, I didn’t actually do the migration, my partner did. She transferred the site over at the server level and when it broke the site, she tried to go back and restore the site from a previous version but that just ended up breaking the staging site as well. So the staging site currently has the same issues as the live site, minus the recent posts widget issue. The editing icons are are still missing, the essential grid is broken, and all of our new images are corrupted / missing.

I’m afraid a re-migration will not fix the issues either. I’m at a complete loss as to how to get our environment back to normal.

Thanks for your help!
Samantha

Hi Samantha,

Yup this is weird, it looks like the site is not painting the SVG icons/image, not only in the Content Editor but on the WordPress itself.

All those icons missing are all SVG.

How about a backup restore? Can you restore the site to the date before the migration attempt? Its worth to attempt to restore the site, if not, please try reinstalling the WordPress.

How to Reinstall WordPress Without Losing Content

Regarding the recent posts widget on the footer, you can recover a lose widget under Inactive list

Thanks,
