Breadcrumbs Issue - Path Not Traced

Hi X Team,

On my test site for: http://rewatson.bluetroop.com/, the theme is not tracing the full breadcrumbs page path of the interior pages I’m creating. On the breadcrumbs portion, it is just showing the page I’m on. How can I fix it to show the whole path?

Thank you in advance.

Hi @bluetroop2,

Thank you for writing in, but I can’t replicate that issue on my end, can you confirm that the involve pages are a child of a parent page? If your page is not a child of any page it will just show home > page, if it is set as a child page then it would be home > parent page > child page

If the issue persists, please do testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Cheers!

I think I have it set up correctly as I have on other sites. Can you log-in and take a look? More information to come…

Hello @bluetroop2,

Thanks for writing in!

I have checked your pages. All of them are parent pages therefore the breadcrumb will display:

  • home > page

Hope this helps.

I’m not sure that’s correct. Please look at the breadcrumbs for this page:

It only shows: home>semi-frameless-no-header-shower-enclosures/

If you look at the menu structure (image attached), it should show the breadcrumbs as:
home>products>shower-enclosures>semi-frameless-shower-enclosures>semi-frameless-no-header-shower-enclosures

What is going wrong here?

Hello @bluetroop2,

The path that will be showed in the Breadcrumbs is not based on the menu structure but with the page structure.

For example, if you have the pages Product, Shower Enclosures, Framed Shower Enclosures page then the page structure should be the Product Page should be the parent page for Shower Enclosures page and the Shower Enclosures page is the parent for Shower Enclosures page so that you will have the breadcrumb path that goes: Product > Shower Enclosures > Framed Shower Enclosures.

I have done an example for this page for reference:

Hope this explains it.

Excellent, thank you for the clarification, very helpful.

My next question is what if I need to show “Products” within the breadcrumbs" as well? “Products” is not an actual page, only a custom link on my menu, but I would still like for it to show in the breadcrumbs string. Is this possible?

Hello @bluetroop2,

You will need to create a "Products page as a parent page of the page SEMI-FRAMELESS SHOWER ENCLOSURES which is the parent page of the http://rewatson.bluetroop.com/semi-frameless-shower-enclosures/semi-frameless-no-header-shower-enclosures/. That is the only way to have the Products show in your breadcrumbs.

Hope this helps.

Okay, thanks. I didn’t want to do it that way, but okay.

You’re most welcome,

Cheers!
