Blog post featured image not full-width in frontend

Hi there, I’m using a custom pro template for posts.
For the featured image and title part I’m using a global block with dynamic content.

Now if i create a new post or edit an existing one and load one of the templates it looks great in the visual builder (the featured image shows up in full-width). But when I go to “View in frontend” the image is inside the boxed layout. I would like to make it look like in the builder.

Hello @ArtOfSpring,

Thanks for writing in!

The featured image is not fullwidth because you have not yet assigned your custom Single layout.

You can use “All Singular” if you want to have the same layout for all your post items.

Or use “Post Category” if you only want this layout applied to “Fortnite” category:

Hope this helps.

Hi @ruenel and thank you for getting back to me.
It’s not my goal to assign a certain fixed layout to a post.

Instead I use layouts to save them as templates and load them into posts.
That’s because I want a flexible layout with elements that can be dragged, copied and deleted.

So if you create a new post, and load one of the templates it will show full-width in the builder but boxed in frontend. That’s my issue.

Hi @ArtOfSpring,

I just check your example post and they are look the same on the builder and front-end. Would you mind sharing more information on how to replicate your current issue?

Thank you.

Hi there,

you’re right, now builder and frontend version do like alike.
Don’t know what changed there but now it’s a boxed layout for both.

Anyway that’s not the layout I wanted to achieve.
It should look like the layout (link in secure note) the template was made of (first section should have a full-width cover dynamic background image).

I saved this layout as a template and loaded it into a post but the background image appears different then.
It’s inside the boxed grid.

I feel like it has been working before but during one of the latest theme updates the posts default template overrides the template loaded into a post.

Hello @ArtOfSpring,

This will only work if you do not have a featured image. Please be aware that the posts have a default template layout built in the theme which is what you are seeing right now. Even if you create a layout, save them as templates and load them into posts, it will still use the default post template layout. It is best that you create a general post template layout then so that the featured image will display as fullwidth.

Hope this makes sense.

Alright, I’ll create a general post template layout then. I wasn’t aware of the “content” element until now. That’s changing everything of course - thanks a lot!

Hi @ArtOfSpring,

Glad that we are able to help you, please let us know how it works for you.

Thanks
