You are right about a cache problem, but nothing to do with the local browser cache, that is why I was totally perplexed. I just migrated the site from a different server with active cache plugins. The site looked and behaved fine for a day, then it didn’t. I deactivated those plugins, and everything is running smoothly. It was a combination of Cloudflare and the new server settings not playing well with those particular plugins. I had other sites migrate without a hitch. So sorry to bother you with this matter.
