Blog Layout Navigation Not Working

Hi,

My blog layout does not allow the posts on page 2 to show and leads to a 404 error.

The Pro layout uses the Posts (Minimal) and Post Pagination elements. The only changes from the default settings are some styling and effect changes.

I have tested for a plugin conflict by deactivating all plugins, including the cache. Still I get a 404 error when trying to navigate to page 2 of the blog.

Any ideas what might be causing it?

Thanks,
Christopher

Hey @whitemedia,

Thanks for reaching out!

We need to check your layout builder setup but the given credentials are not working, please double check and update them with the correct ones.

Thank you.

Thanks. New credentials in Secure Note.

Hey @whitemedia,

I am not quite sure what’s going on but the credentials are still not working. Please double check and update them with the correct ones so that we will avoid back and forth.

Thank you.

That is really weird. I have hard reset the password in the database and I can successfully log in.

Hi @whitemedia,

I have checked your website by deactivating the layout temporarily and found that the issue still exists. It seems, there might be some different reasons behind your issue. I would like to suggest troubleshooting the following common issue to help us to recognize the reason.

  1. Theme Related Issue
  2. Plugin Conflict
  3. Theme Update related issue
  4. Child Theme Related issue
  5. CSS/JS Customization
  6. Disabling Cache
  7. Disabling CDN

If you discover that an issue is coming from a custom code or 3rd party plugin, kindly consult with a developer or contact the plugin author. Please note that we do not provide support for custom codes and 3rd party plugins.
If none of the above help, please copy your live site to a staging server so we could troubleshoot freely without breaking your live site.
And give us access to the secure note including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Thanks for the steps above. None have made a difference to the issue.

  1. Switched to default WordPress 2022 theme - issue still present.

  2. All plugins were deactivated - issue still present (tried with both 2022 theme and Pro theme)

  3. All themes fully updated (all plugins and WP core also fully updated) - issue still present.

  4. Switched to Pro theme (rather than Pro Child) - issue still present.

  5. Removed all Global CSS (none present on Layout). Also removed header and footer, so just the blog layout loading - issue still present.

  6. Cache disabled and deactivated - issue still present.

  7. There is no CDN present.

Additional steps taken were to remove any additional code in functions.php - issue still present. I have also deleted and recreated the blog page - issue still present.

I have set-up a staging version of the website (details in Secure Note) where you can do what you want!

One final thing - if I change the homepage settings in Settings > Reading to Your latest Posts, the blog navigation works partially, but displays page 1 on page 2.

Thanks,
Christopher

Problem found and rectified. On Settings > Permalinks, the Category Base setting was causing the problem. Clearing the field resolved the issue and pagination works again.

Thanks,
Christopher

Hey @whitemedia,

If the issue persists even with the default WordPress theme, that means the issue is with your WordPress setup.

We only provide support for general WordPress in our One premium support. Please consider subscribing if you need WordPress support.

I’d just suggest that you reset WordPress including resetting your Permalinks setup including clearing the Category base.

I’m going to close down this thread as this is not a theme issue.

Thanks.
