I am using the Ethos Stack with child theme. I am reworking my site to be more blog centered. When I set the blog to show just an excerpt nothing shows up but the title. When I set it to show full post it does show the full post. I’ve searched the new and old forums but found nothing. Any ideas?

Hello There,
Since you have created your post in Cornerstone, the automatic excerpts will not show up. It is simply because shortcodes and any formatting structure will be strip out by WordPress in getting an excerpt. The best thing you can do is to add a manual excerpt to each of you posts.
Excerpts are optional hand-crafted summaries of your content that can be used in your theme. Learn more about manual excerpts.
To set an example, I edited this post:
I have inserted a manual excerpt. http://prntscr.com/fpxh0o
Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks for the help but unfortunately that does not solve the problem. I tried to manually add the excerpt to a few posts and it does not show up on the main page. I even pushed a few posts that were not edited in cornerstone to the main page, manually adding an excerpt to my Merry New Year post but still nothing. What else could be causing the issue?
Hello There,
Thanks for updating in! The manual excerpts has worked out. You can check it in the blog index:
It is not working in the homepage because by default, the recent post element which you have used in your homepage will only display the featured image, the title and the post meta. No excerpts in the recent post element. If you want to add some excerpts, you’ll need to modify the recent post element. Please check out this old threads:
Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.
That seemed to have worked. It would be nice if simple functions like that were already set up in the theme instead of having to add code, but as it were it worked and that is what matters. Thanks for the help.
Excerpts in the Recent Post element is not officially supported. Since the original feature is overridden, you will need to manually maintain it if there are new changes in future updates.
Thanks.
