Blog archive - Looper vs sorting

Hi

I have read through this forum. There seem to be two conflicting pieces of advice:

On the blog archive page, the page itself is a “looper”, and there is no need to add more Loopers on the page. But you need to do this to control sorting etc, by using Recent posts, or the Query builder.

When you add a second looper, to control the sorting, etc, then the pagination won’t work.

Is it not possible to both control sorting, and get the pagination to work? We need the blog archive to display posts chronologically.

Hello Anders,

Please be inform that the WordPress loop works on the blog index or on any other archive page in chronological order. In the blog index, the WordPress loop will return all the post items according to the published date. In an archive page, for example, a “Travel” category archive, the WordPress loop will return all post items assigned to the Travel category still in chronological order. It is not recommended to have a sort functionality on a blog index. What you can do is to run a 2nd loop (Looper Provider ALL Terms) in your blog index to display all the category and then link each of the displayed category to its respective category archive page. Having it this way, you will be sure that the pagination will work. Any other alternative may be possible but will lead to a pagination issue.
