Blog and Portfolio like on demo sites

Hello, I’m using Integrity 1 without the demo content. When I tried the demo content on another installation I noticed it has blog and portfolio pages.

Currently I have the home page to list the blog with recent posts, but I would prefer to have the blog under www.domain.com/blog like on the demo. How can I create the same page like in the demo with blog and with portfolio?

Under Theme Options it has settings for Blog and Portfolio, so I guess I’m trying to figure out how to activate these on the pages I want to have them on? Thanks!

Hi Bjorn,

Thanks for writing in!

1.Create Blog page:
You can create an empty WordPress page with the name Blog and then publish the page. Then head over to Settings -> Reading section and then select the option A static page and from below options, you can select a Homepage and your Blog page.

2.Create Portfolio page:
Create an empty WordPress page, name is as Portfolio. From the page attributes section, select the template as Layout - Portfolio and publish your page.

You can also see more settings below the page under Portfolio Settings.

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much, this is just what I was wondering about.

One more questions on the blog view. On my homepage I would like to list recent posts, and then another Category of posts and then a second Category of posts underneath there again. Is this possible? I have only found a way to list recent posts using shortcodes: http://demo.theme.co/integrity-1/shortcodes/recent-posts/

Hi There,

Thanks again for asking!

You can use classic recent post element to show post from the different category in the home page.

Hope this helps!

This is very helpful thank you.

This is a site that is using X theme and I’m trying to figure out how to create the blog posts like this for each category: https://www.jillianharris.com/category/food/appetizers/

I don’t think this is Classic Post Recent Posts with Category?

Hello There,

The given url is a category archive page displaying masonry layout. You can also achieve this in your site. Simply go to X > Theme Options > Blog > Archives and set the style to “Masonry”. If you want to add category links in your menu, you can manage it in Appearance > Menus and edit your menu.

Hope this helps.

This is super helpful. I went through the steps to create the Portfolio. The only problem is that under Category Select it only says All Categories and none of the categories I have show up. Any idea what I need to do? When I go to the live Portfolio page it just says Portfolio and then Sort. When I click on “All” which is the only option nothing shows up.

Hello There,

You no longer need to create a page for it since every category you create, WordPress will automatically creates a category archive. Again, this page: https://www.jillianharris.com/category/food/appetizers/ is a category page.

If you want to display Classic Post Recent Posts with Category, you will have field to specify which category to display:

Or when using the shortcode, you have to use like this:

[recent_posts count="4" category="name"]

But then recent post element does not display masonry layout like how it appears in the category archive page.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your help. But I was wondering about the Portfolio page as my categories do not appear under Page “Portfolio Settings” and then “Category Select”. It only says: “All Categories.” So when I go to my Portfolio page it does not show any posts… It only says Sort, and then by All, but nothing shows up

Hi There,

Can you confirm that you have a Categories under your Portfolio? On your admin dashboard see Portfolio > Portfolio Categories

If so, please do testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

that was the issue! Thank you so much for your help!!

You’re welcome, glad we could help.

Cheers!
