Block Grid Element and Image Size

Hi there -

We are in the process of redesigning our homepage. Our site uses Theme X version 6.5.5 with a custom child theme. Our homepage is a static page. For theme options our stack is Renew. We use Woocommerce.

Currently we have the Slider near the top of the homepage. We are going to replace that with a row containing two columns. The left column will contain an image and text section. For this column we used the classic text element. In the right hand column we wanted four blocks each containing a primary call to actions. For this we choose the Classic Block Grid. For each of the block grid I created an image that is 300 x 300.

Here is my question, what do you recommend as the image size for the classic block grid? I tried 200 x 200 and that appeared too small. 300 x 300 looked good, even on mobile.

Here is a mock up of the homepage on our development site.

Hi Tim,

I suggest you double it to 600 x 600 for Retina display.

By the way, have you gotten the chance to take a look at X 7.0.0 and higher? You can create nested rows (rows within columns). This will allow you to do the same as you would with the Classic Block Grid but easier to use.

You might want to give that a try.

@benursal Thanks for that suggestion. I will give it a try.

Based on your suggestion I just watched the video on x 7+. I’ll ask our developer when they plan on updating us to 7+

Thanks
Tim
