Black bars above and under 16:9 video in The Grid

I use the plugin The Grid, and have some grid items with the post type ”video” (Youtube 16:9 video). If I choose to play video inside the grid item (default setting) the video displays correctly in 16:9 ratio in the grid item, without black bars above and under the video, but if i change the setting to play video in Lightbox, black bars appear above and under the grid items image. How do I get rid of those black bars?

Thanks for writing in! I have checked your site URLs assigned to your license. I see one site is under construction mode and from the other site, I could not locate similar example as in your screenshot.

I have now disabled under construction mode for my site. I attach two screenshots from The Grid’s documentation. If I use the default setting for playing video – inside grid item (first screenshot) – and set the Youtube aspect ratio to 16:9 in the The Grid’s setting box for the post (second screenshot), then the image in the grid item displays correctly. But if I enable the setting to play video in Lightbox (first screenshot), black bars appear under and above the grid item’s image. I get the same result, regardless of whether I paste the YouTube URL in the content of the post or if I paste the Youtube ID in The Grid’s settings box (second screenshot).

Thank you for the clarifications. Are you referring to this black bars?

The black bars are spacers around the video so that it will display the exact ratio at the middle of the grid box. Play around with the aspect ratio and you will have a different thickness of the black spaces.

If you choose to play video inside the grid item (default setting) the video displays correctly in 16:9 ratio in the grid item, without black bars above and below because it is the actual video in the grid item. If you select the video to play in the lightbox, those images with a black spaces around is just an image poster coming from Youtube. For example, this one:
