BIG problems with website

I was happy with X theme, but since you changed to Pro and X, the problems started on my website.
Without even changing things, the look and feel changed by changes you made. For instance: Featured box, is completely messed up.

Now I’m adding content to a page and with a click all content is gone… WHAT THE F…

Why does it all work that crappy now???

Some other frustrations:

  • Font look different in the new text elements (regular looks like thin)
  • spacing created on rows, columns or in text blocks are smaller on actual website. This makes it difficult and very time-consuming to know if the spacings are right.

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

What was your theme/cornerstone versions of the update? You should always test the updates, maintenance, and even redesign in a staging site (a clone of your site). That way, you can compare and easily find what’s the cause, the update always contains some features that don’t exist from the old versions.

Plus, the reason your content isn’t displaying is that they are hidden from a desktop. You should check and inspect your section and rows and make sure they aren’t hidden in Customize section.

The new version too has the different way of setting font. You now have to choose the font styling in your element settings, it’s either inherit it from global font setting, or set another font locally, or use font templates. But yes, you have to manually choose font sizes and weight. It’s not the same from the older version, which is why testing is very important for users that have existing setup.

Update could be done easily and automatically, but using and migrating to new versions need to be done manually.

Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

I thought the pro version was the one with the new layout and handeling. Now cornerstone is also changed en handles a lot like the pro version. I was surprised to see that some functionalities are changed that have so much effect on the live website.

4 questions:
1: can I use classic elements and new elements together on one page?
2: Revolution slider and essential grid are not visible on page editing. How do I implement is in a new element?
3: Featured box: do you have a fix for left alignment with the image showing above the text?
4: is it wise to rebuild pages with the new elements? (speed, etc)

Hi there,

Yes, it’s common for major updates which is why it’s not recommended updating a stable site without testing it. It’s like redesigning your site and should be done on separate testing site. Updating to major versions is like jumping with many gaps in functionality due to new features. It’s the same thing when you jump from X 2.0 to X 3.0, there will be gaps and need to be tested and fixed in a staging site.

  1. You can still use classic element, and if you don’t wish to see and use V2 elements then you can disable it in your Pro or Cornerstone settings section.

  2. They should be displayed, but maybe there is an internal error or javascript. Make sure they are updated, and please provide your site’s URL where the slider is and your login credentials on a secure note. I like to see issue you’re getting first

  3. Would you mind providing a sample of how it should be? I checked your page and looks like it’s intentionally placed there using inline style and class center-text.

  4. It is, that is also a way of future proofing your content since the classic elements will just stay that way, and future improvements will be implemented in newer elements. But the performance should just the same.

Thanks!
