It seems like it is not overriding the inherited value on the S and XS screens.

Update: I think this is the same thing Scot mentioned over here: Beta 2 - reponsive columns are not displaying correctly at smaller screens
I was able to get that sorted after trying a few more cases. Pretty sure that will resolve what you’re seeing here as well.
