Best approach to setup a network of X-Pro sites?

Hello,

I have a website network and would love feedback on the best approach for website maintenance and SEO.

This is just an example for how the site domains are laid out with a top level and then specific sites for each specific award program.

FruitAwards.com
-AppleAwards.com
-GrapeAwards.com
-StrawberryAwards.com

The question is how to set this up with Wordpress and X-Pro? Options:

One total WP/X-Pro install for all websites. Then point domains AppleAwards.com to FruitAwards.com/appleawards

One WP/X-Pro install for each site?

Us WP Multi-site and X-Pro install ?

The greater question is that would you go stand alone websites or use multi site?

For easier updates and maintenance, you might use multisite since you only update the one theme and all other sites in the network using the theme will automatically gets updated. One thing to remember though that with stand alone set up or separate installations, they are independent from each other. If one site encounters an error or issue, it will not affect the other sites since they do not share the database and resources.
