Background video loading slow on mobile

Hi there!

I have a background video on the first section of my first page and it works super on desktop but on mobile it loads very slowly.

Any ideas on how to speed things up?

Thanks for writing to us.

I checked your given site URL it seems that you are using the 11MB video, please note when you access the site through a mobile device it would take some time to load the page video and other resources of the page. I would suggest you please reduce the video size and reupload it and then check it again.

Thank you for the reply and suggestion. The video streams from Vimeo and it does not effect the load time if I choose the highest resolution or 360p. The problem seem to be that the video takes about 5s to even start loading (before its all white) and display the placeholder image. For illustrative purpose I have changed the placeholder image to a dog so you easily can see when it starts loading. If the placeholder image could show straight away it would solve a part of the problem.

Any other ideas how to solve this? I do not think I have experienced it quite this slow in the past on other sites that I have built.

Hello Tomas,

I was able to replicate the issue. The poster image is supposed to display on mobile. On my test, it takes a few seconds before the poster image loads. I will forward this to our developers for further investigation.
