Background MP4 in content is not playing on Windows 10 Chrome / Firefox

I’ve checked and for some reason a background video shows fine on my mac but on the client’s PC the video will not show and only the poster image will display.

See vobecky.com

It works fine on Chrome / Safari on Mac. And oddly enough, it works on IE Windows 10. But on Windows 10 it does not display in Chrome or Firefox.

Hi @nareewong

I’ve checked this website on Firefox latest version on Windows 10 using “Browserstack”, and I can see the video in the background is working fine, please check this video screencast:

It could be something wrong specifically on your client PC, if he has an Antivirus installed, perhaps he could try disabling it a recheck this issue? also, try reloading this website on different machines.

Thanks.

It was more than one PC for some odd reason. I’m not sure what these two computers shared but for sure it did not work on Chrome and Firefox.

Hi again,

I checked your site in Windows 10 Firefox and Chrome and I can see the video playing too. It seems like your client is using a touch screen PC?

It’s known issue with hybrid devices (mixed of both desktop and mobile touch features). The feature loaded on mobile is different from desktop. Menus on mobile are operated by touch or click, and that’s what happening on the hybrid device.

Most modern mobile and tablet devices now surpassed desktop screen resolution. Hence, it’s harder to detect if a device is a desktop or mobile since hybrid device specs are almost equal to a tablet.

The only thing that separates them now is touch feature, now they introduced it on laptop/desktop too.

Hope this helps!
