Background color not showing up

Hello there,

Please can you tell me why my background color is not showing up, what am i doing wrong?
I attach screen shot of my customiser. The dark blue-gray colour is what i’m trying to do but everything is white.

Thank you and best regards,
Carin

Hey Carin,

Thanks for writing in! Try adding the following code in the Theme Options > CSS:

body .site, body .x-site {
    background-color: transparent;
}

Let us know how this goes!

Hi there,

Thank you for the reply. I am going to be honest with you - I am trying out X for the first time now, i usually use another premium theme for the sites i build for my clients.

I am not impressed or happy with that:
There is a very obvious place to set the background colour in the Theme Options - but it doesn’t work. Now i have to write to support. All this time my client is waiting for me to change the colour of the background - not a crazy request, should not take long at all. But no, the setting doesn’t work. I get an answer from support to go and tinker with the CSS!!! 6!!! hours later. By this time the work day is finished, the client is annoyed with me bc i could not execute such a simple request, and i am annoyed with you because: why is it so difficult to change the background colour???

There are many nice things about X theme, but many things, inexplicable things, make me hesitant to use this theme going forward.

Anyway, thank you for the answer.

Hi @Caracarina

Sorry to hear that you had gone through these troubles, if you are sure you didn’t set a background pattern or background image, then we would like to take a closer look at this issue to know why the background-color wasn’t working in first place. I tried to check the website link I shared in the Secure Note but I couldn’t see the front-end, so please provide us with WordPress Dashboard login details in a “Secure Note” so we can investigate this issue.

Thanks.

Hello there,

I’ve sent you the log in to have a look - please note that we are leaving the background white for now - PLEASE do not change anything - this client is incredibly difficult and i will get into trouble if anything changes without them requesting it - so please do not change the background colour now. Thank you.

While i have your ear, i may mention that i find the knowledge base articles are outdated for a brand new user like me. I look up how to achieve something and the instructions will say click the “Settings” cog on that menu and then do this and this and that - but then my meny does not have that cog to click and i don’t know what to do - i keep going around in circles for hours. Trying to get Typekit to work took hours - and from the advertisement with the bespoke Typekit extension i thought it was going to be easy - but it literally took more than 3 hours of going around in circles - everything set up already but the font simply not showing up in the font list. Again, i don’t have 6+ hours to wait for support to help me, the client wants to see the font NOW - so i search and search and by chance some guy said he got his Typekit to work after days of struggling by simply disabling and enabling Font Manager again - and there was his font. You see stuff like this drives us crazy.

Anyway thank you for hearing my feedback. Some things about this theme is very good - other things like these make me cry. Really. Crying real tears. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Carin,

I’m sorry we previously did not explain why CSS is needed for the Renew stack. The Renew stack has a white background for its site container by design or that is the stack’s design. The background color is there and it will show up if you use the boxed layout (see Secure Note)

Regarding the KB articles, yes, there are outdated documentation. We are sorry that it was not updated yet and there’s still more information that needs to be included. For now, the support team is here to guide you.

For the font issue, please try updating to the latest version of X and Cornerstone.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,

Thank you kindly for the video showing me how to do that - that is very good to see a pro in action - versus me that goes around in circles for hours :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you for the support - it is always very good - sometimes it just takes a bit too long when one needs to do something for a client RIGHT NOW - but the advice is always solid - thank you for that.

Best regards,
Carin

Glad we could help and thank you for your nice words.

Cheers!
