I recently moved everything from LayerSlider to the native slider in Pro, and from Essential Grid to the native grid in Pro…and I love them. However, since doing so I am getting flagged by GTmetrix with a large layout shift…this is new, and I can see it happening, but I don’t know why. Here is the site: https://jeffkaiser.com
Hi @jkais,
Thanks for reaching out.
I have checked your website but unfortunately didn’t find the issue you described here. Can you please share the exact page URL where you are having such a problem? I would also request you please provide any video that helps us to recognize the problem.
Thanks
Hi there, Tristup, thank you for replying, it is the same link that I linked in the original for the example. Here is what I see on my iPhone. I have slowed it down to show you the shift. The quotes load first at the top, and then are pushed down by the slider, is there a way to keep this from happening? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JEebyzdvtbd72ZrXz1XdJ36-J88unXdM/view?usp=drive_link
I.e., should I have a slider setting that will to hold that space, rather than the whole thing shifting as the slider loads?
Hey @jkais,
The simplest (not the best) solution is to set the Min Height of the Column where you placed the slider. So, if your slider fills a 100px height on mobile, setting the column min height of 100px would fill the area first so it won’t cause too much layout shift.
The dynamic solution, one that will fill the height based on the aspect ratio of your slide, is complex and might even need custom development so we cannot provide that as part of normal theme support. This will need One Total Care subscription.
Awesome, super helpful, thank you! Fixed the problem.
