Author Page Sidebar?

Hello

I am wondering if there is a way to have the global sidebar show up on author pages? I am using the new layout builder and have set the global layout to sidebar / content, but the sidebar does not show up. I also looked into creating a custom sidebar via Dashboard > Appearance > Sidebars, but there doesn’t appear to be any options for author pages specifically.

Maybe there is a better approach?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Hello @TonyBear,

Thanks for writing to us,

To display the sidebar on the author archive page through the layout builder you can use the element called Widget Area. Please have a look at the given screenshot below.

Please have a look at our doc of the widget area to learn more about how to use it.

Hope it helps
Thanks

I’m aware of the Widget Area element, but that can’t be made to appear as the sidebar does on the blog page. Are there any other options to have the main sidebar show on the author archive pages the way it does on the blog page and posts?

Hi Tony,

As you notice the sidebar of the icon stack is not a standard sidebar, it is a fixed left sidebar, that is no quite possible with the Layout Builder.

However, there might be a way without customization, but you need to have a dedicated header for your author archive pages, you can duplicate your current Header.

The header builder has a Fixed Left bar feature, so in addition to your current Top bar header, you can add a fixed left bar to serve as the fixed sidebar for your author archive pages.

Cheers,

Great recommendation @friech, thank you!

In fact, I think we will use this approach over the built-in Icon stack sidebar for consistency and Pro builder options that are not available in the widget area.

I had a feeling there would be another way :relieved:

Glad to hear that, @TonyBear
